My Glossier Experience

Glossier; the brand that has been all over Instagram and Youtube. Over hyped by beauty bloggers and vloggers everywhere, probably so you use their code that gets YOU 10% off but them a massive £10 credit on their Glossier account for every use of their code. If you want, you can use this poor student blogger here’s code. I’m going to be honest, I fell for the hype but here is my completely honest review and impression of my first Glossier experience.

Delivery

I’m starting writing this at 10am on the Thursday after the Glossier site launched UK shipping. I ordered 4 items with the free standard delivery – expected to take 2-5 days to arrive. Currently, no dispatch conformation of any form. I am aware they were inundated with orders, but the delivery has definitely disappointed me. Especially when I see others receiving theirs yet mine hasn’t even been dispatched (and big bloggers receiving their multiple parcels the next day, maybe some had next day delivery but I can’t believe they all opted for that).

Update: later on in the day I received an email conforming my parcel will be delivered tomorrow. I then received a general email from Glossier saying they apologise for the delay was they weren’t expecting so many orders and a £5 off coupon for my next order. A good move from the Glossier customer service team. Despite this, I can’t quite believe they were shocked at the number of orders they received considering how much exposure they have been getting from UK bloggers (a handful in particular).

It’s here. It arrived delivered by DPD at the start of the one hour delivery window. DPD are a company who never manage to find my house, this time however they pulled through. I had read a few comments on the Glossier instagram saying orders had been arriving incomplete and not in the proper packaging but mine arrived exactly as it should.

The Products

Let’s start with what I chose and why. I decided to order four items from Glossier as that was how many products there were that I REALLY wanted to get my hands on. Firstly, the Priming Moisturiser. I have heard so many good things about the priming moisturiser I had to add it to my basket. I normally go for a more silicon based primer (not really through choice, more convenience) and I’ve been wanting to try out an alternative. The Milky Jelly Cleanser is the second item I added to my basket, again another product that has been slightly overhyped. I watched a few ‘must buy’ videos prior to ordering and this was always featured. Thirdly, the Lipgloss – have you seen how sparkly it is in all those instagram photos?!?! I HAD to have it. Finally, I purchased the Perfecting Skin Tint. I chose this as my final item because foundations are my favourite thing to try from new brands.

Now the reviews…

Priming Moisturiser
My first impressions of the moisturiser were pretty good. I noticed my foundation did apply really nicely after using it and my skin felt nice and nourished. After a few days of using it I can honestly say it is my new go-to moisturiser for the daytime. It is nourishing and does prime my skin perfectly for my day-to-day look.

Milky Jelly Cleanser
My fav. It is sooooo good. It gets all my make-up off, including my stubborn waterproof mascara. I’ve seen multiple bloggers referring to it as ‘perfect’ for their ‘second cleanse’ but I prefer to use this first and get all my make-up off, then I use my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish if I feel like I need that extra bit of product.

Clear Lipgloss
I’m gonna be honest; it is nothing special. It’s a clear, not too sticky gloss. Unfortunately it isn’t as impressive as it looks on Instagram.

Perfecting Skin Tint
I attempted this on the first day, it is definitely what it says on the tin; a ‘tint’. Maybe I need to try this again in the summer when I want to wear little to no makeup or when my skin is having a really good week. It does so little though that I don’t see the point in it.
