The Gossip Girl Guide to NYC
Hey there Upper East Siders, Gossip Girl here…
Would this be a Gossip Girl Guide to NYC if I didn’t start it like that? Here are my top locations to visit in NYC for any fan (+ the addresses).
The Steps at The Met
Spotted on the steps of the Met: an S. and B. power struggle.Did S think she could waltz home and things would be just like they were? Did B think S would go down without a fight?
The most iconic place from Gossip Girl has to be The Steps at The Met. An obvious one to share but I had a few things to tell you about your trip to The Met.
- Go early otherwise you won’t get your iconic photo on The Steps of The Met – unless you want tonnes of other people in the photo.
- If you’re heading in to The Met (or any other museum) the $25 they ask for is a suggested donation, you can donate any amount.
- It’s well worth visiting the gallery while you’re there
?5th Ave, New York, NY 10028, USA
Every trembling bone in my tired and scared body wants to marry you.
The site of Chuck and Blair’s wedding is a must-see spot for any Gossip Girl fan; or any visitor to NYC for that matter. It is stunning and has a really nice vibe. I visited in the summer and there were musicians and performers. It’s also an engagement hot-spot so it wouldn’t be out of the question to witness a proposal (or three).
?72 Terrace Dr, New York, NY 10021, USA
People aren’t checking into the Empire for a black tie experience. They come to live like Chuck Bass. No rules, no repercussions.
Somewhere I haven’t made it to is Chuck Bass’ hotel; The Empire. I very nearly stayed there on my recent trip to NYC but the price went up so we found another option. So many important things have happened in The Empire so it would be rude not to visit (I will on my next trip, I promise). Head to The Lobby Bar to sit in the place that was the home to so many iconic scenes.
?44 W 63rd St, New York, NY 10023, USA
Lotte New York Palace
Aka. The Van der Woodsen’s apartment building. Like The Empire, it’s a hotel so you can head in and visit. The iconic courtyard is stunning and in winter there is the most gorgeous Christmas tree.
?455 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10022, USA
Grand Central Terminal
Hey Upper East Siders. Gossip Girl here. And I have the biggest news ever. One of my many sources, Melanie91, sends us this: “Spotted at Grand Central, bags in hand: Serena van der Woodsen.” Was it only a year ago our It Girl mysteriously disappeared for “boarding school”?
Grand Central is a must visit for any Gossip Girl fan especially as it is where the show began; the site of Serena’s return. I would have included a photo but I visited on my first visit to NYC where all photos were taken on an iPhone 5 and that quality isn’t blog-worthy.
?89 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017, USA
No, it has always been your world and you’ve never let me forget it. I’ve always been a visitor. The poor kid from Brooklyn who you’ve never seen as an equal to you.
The site of the Humphrey loft. Just walking around Brooklyn in general gets you into that moody, poetic Humphrey state of mind. The address below is the exterior of the Humphrey loft.
?455 Water Street, Brooklyn
The Empire State Building
I’ll be waiting at the top of The Empire State.
One I’ve not done, favouring the cheaper Top of The Rock. But if you’re doing a Gossip Girl tour of the city you kinda have to do this one. Another iconic location in the Chuck and Blair love story.
?350 5th Ave, New York, NY 10118, USA
There are tonnes more locations that you could visit in NYC but I didn’t want to go overboard. These are my 7 favourite locations the show was filmed in. You can also book on to a proper Gossip Girl tour of NYC if you want to see every filming location.
Where was your favourite location in Gossip Girl?
