The Summer Dress Edit

This wasn't a post I planned but I've spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for graduation and wedding guest dressed over the past couple of months and it has been a struggle. I thought magazines would have article after article on their websites with tonnes of ideas, spoiler alert; THEY DON'T. Unless you have hundreds to spend on Net-a-Porter, they aren't catering to you. So here we are, dresses for the budget gal. The most a dress here will cost is £150, for those who want to spend a little more or are incredible at finding discount codes. The photos of the dresses are all links to take you directly to the site they are from!

The Grad Dress

Let's start with the graduation look. I found this a hell of a lot easier to find than my wedding guest outfit. It's safe to say, you need to know the colours of your gown for this one. Luckily mine is pretty tasteful, black with different shades of blue on the collar. I therefore chose a blue dress but here I will include options for a variety of colour palettes.

Mango

I am obsessed with Mango at the moment, in particular their selection of midi dresses. I've also noticed a theme as I started putting this post together; green & blue dresses. I very nearly bought the dress for my cousins wedding from here but it sold out before I could get my hands on it. Mango dresses are really affordable, between £29-£69 for a majority of them.

& Other Stories

I got my grad dress from here but I haven't included it in the post because I think I want to save it for a post about my uni experience. I was struggling to find a dress for my graduation until I found myself back on the & Other Stories site and I am SO happy with the one I chose. They also have coupon codes all the time, I got my dress for 25% off. The teal dress also comes in a raspberry colour!!

ASOS

I couldn't not put an ASOS dress or two in this post. Here are two dresses I love on the ASOS site at the moment. I'm contemplating buying the white midi for summer in general. Again, such an affordable site to find dresses on. They have tonnes for whatever price range and style you're after.

Topshop

Another classic high street store with some incredible dresses for any occasion. These two are my favourites on the site and are perfect for a graduation ceremony or any other summer occasion where you need to dress up a little.

Wedding Guest

I wouldn't be lying if I told you I've been searching for 4 months for this dress. It has been a struggle. I knew I wanted a blue dress, a pink dress or a rust coloured dress. I thought this would be easy but it really isn't, especially when you're on a budget. I originally intended to spend £100 on this dress, then I realised I also needed a grad dress so slashed that budget in half. I haven't included the dress I chose, but I 100% broke my budget on this.

& Other Stories

My saving grace for a grad dress was & Other Stories but they have tonnes of incredible dresses for wedding guests too. I've included some of my favourites which I VERY nearly bought but the one I purchased in the end went on sale meaning I could justify the price tag. Basically, if you're after a dress for any occasion, & Other Stories is somewhere you must check.

Monsoon

This is where I purchased the dress for my cousins wedding. Pricier than most but well worth it. I got my dress when they were offering 20% off + the extra introductory 15% off that. Like & Other Stories, Monsoon always have deals and discount codes as well as a promising reward card system.

ASOS

Another site I very nearly bought the dress for the wedding on. They have SO many options but the ones I wanted were mini dresses and not available in the tall section and at 5ft9 a mini dress in the main collection is not going to cut it for me.

Warehouse

Warehouse isn't somewhere I've shopped in a while and I haven't done so often but I think for occasion and workwear they are incredible. Rust was a colour I really wanted to wear to the wedding but couldn't find an option that really stood out to me however if I'd seen this before I bought my dress I think I would have given it a go.

Mango

Aka. the almost perfect dresses. As I said when I mentioned them for grad dresses, I almost bought my dress for the wedding from here but it sold out almost instantly. These two are another two *almost* perfects. The first is perfect for a beach, chilled wedding and the second is perfect for any occasion.

I hope I provided you with a few good options for any occasions you may have over the spring and summer. I have so many more options I wish I could have shared but this post would have gone on forever. I would also recommend checking out Free People, River Island and Miss Selfridge for some more occasion wear inspiration.

So many of these dresses look so feminine and beautiful, and I’m not usually a dresses person either. I love all the aqua coloured ones!
