I love tea and coffee but there will always be a place in my heart for a good hot chocolate. I know the mug is a little too Christmas-y for an October blog post but I couldn’t resist using it!
You will need:
Milk (fill your mug/mugs for the amount pre heating)
Cocoa Powder of your choice
Double Cream/Whipped Cream
Food colouring (if you want it extra festive)
Chocolate chips & sprinkles to decorate
Firstly measure how much milk you need by filling your mugs, then place in a pan and add as much cocoa powder as necessary (heat it to the instructions on your packet). When its near enough hot, add a 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract. If you want to add food colouring, do it now, red would make it extra Christmas-y and green would make it spooky for a Halloween treat. Add as much as you need to get the desired colour. Add in sugar to taste. Turn the hob down to a very low heat while you whip your cream. If whipping your own cream, add the cream and some sugar (around 1 tsp) and a 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract together and whip. Pour the hot chocolate mixture into the mugs and top with the cream. Make sure to add it slowly and don’t just drop the cream onto the hot chocolate or it will sink. Then decorate with chocolate chips and whatever sprinkles take your fancy.
The mug is from Asda.
